Frank Michler lives in Saarlouis and in 2011 he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease (PD). Since 2013, he has been involved in helping young people with PD. As co-founder and former first chairman of the patient association Jung und Parkinson (2013-2018), he knows his way around the concerns and problems of Parkinson’s patients.
Mr. Michler has greatly contributed to Research on PD in Luxembourg by fostering collaboration with the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine of the University of Luxembourg, showcasing the importance of patient research.
Moreover, Mr Michler lectures in nursing schools and at the University of Saarland in order to inform future nurses and physicians about the concerns and issues of Parkinson patients.
Mr. Michler actively supports the Berlin Parkinson association “Verwackelt.com”, which has set itself the task of improving exchanges between the self-help groups. Since March 2018, he is Disability Commissioner of the county of Saarlouis, in Germany.
