Elke Kalbe

Professor Dr. Elke Kalbe is a Professor of Medical Psychology at the University Hospital of Cologne since 2015. She studied psychology, linguistics, phonetics at the University of Bonn and earned her PhD in psychology from the University of Bielefeld. After her PhD, Prof.  Elke Kalbe worked four years as Assistant Professor in the Neurology department of the University Clinic of Cologne. In 2009, she joined the Institute for Neuroscience and Medicine (INM-III) of the Research Center Jülich and in 2010 she became Professor of Psychological Gerontology and Head of “Center for Neuropsychological Diagnosis and Intervention” at the University of Vechta. Prof. Kalbe’s research focuses on neuropsychology of Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease, mild cognitive impairment, dementia, cognition-based interventions, cognitive tests and functional brain imaging. Prof. Kalbe is the author of several scientific papers and was awarded in 2011 the price for Brain Research in Geriatrics (“Preis für die Hirnforschung in der Geriatrie”), by the University Witten/ Herdecke for outstanding works in the areas medicine, natural sciences, pharmacology, sociology, psychology. Moreover, in 2014, she received a research award by the German Parkinson Society.
